Here is the reality for the new techs coming into the industry, demand is not going to suddenly disappear for software engineers, devops engineers, cloud engineers, etc…however, the complexity is being abstracted away by the day….to the point where someone with rudimentary knowledge in the industry can get the job done. To be a devops engineer 5 years ago meant you needed to be able to work as a dev or as cloud engineer, but the sweet spot was IaC and CI/CD. without AI..bridging the gap. To put things into perspective, a vibe coder using Opus and with enough cloud privileges can now orchestrate the full tech stack so long as they have the fundamentals in each area. Its not that the demand for applications and deployment go away but its just not as complex as it used to be. You can’t expect for Companies to pay top tier salaries for jobs that are fundamentally easier than in days gone by.
